Soft drinks are highly popular amongst the new generation and especially the upper-class people. It is more like a way of celebration during any part, festival, small and large family or business-related gatherings. 

But with all the sparkling colours and liquid it is still important for you to be aware of what you are consuming and whether it is right for your health. 

Many people ignore their health because ignoring health over festival seasons, or during party time, is overpowering over there. 

But, you should remember that when you are cheering soft drinks in a party, you are also harming yourself though the results aren’t visible for today but have a long-term effect on your system.

Soft drinks have a high level of sugar content

  • You must know that one 12-ounce serving of cola includes 39 grams, or 3.3 tablespoons, of sugar, and this is not good for you.
  • If you are consuming too much sugar, it may increase your blood glucose levels and it can also increase the chances of developing cardiovascular disease.

Soft drinks increase your weight!

  • A soft drink may lead to weight gain because once you consume more and more calories but do not burn that many calories, it will definitely convert into fat. 
  • Another thing is that a 12-ounce serving of cola contains 140 calories, often called “empty calories” because they provide no nutritional value. 
  • If you are drinking one full can of cola every day, for four weeks continuously then, it is equal to consuming 3,920 extra calories, or a gain of 1.1 pounds. Are you sure you would be able to burn this much calories? 
  • Ok, so here is a rough roadmap, a person with a weight of 160-pound needs to walk for 27  minutes at 3.5 miles per hours to burn off the calories after consuming one can of cola.  

Soft drinks lead to calcium depletion

  • We all know that calcium is an important mineral to maintain and gain strong bones and teeth. 
  • One of the common ingredients found in sodas are phosphoric acid and citric acid can decrease calcium absorption rate and deplete the calcium from your bones.
  • And, in women, consumption of soft drinks may lead to osteoporosis or poor bone development. Osteoporosis is a condition characterized by weak and brittle bones. 
  • The citric element found in soft drinks can also leach the calcium of your teeth and result in brittle teeth and make them more prone to dental erosion.

Water is the best substitute! 

  • Water, what else can top this list than water. 
  • You can also add some fresh vegetable, herbs and fruits to spice up your water. 
  • After adding spices, herbs, fruits or whatever you like, you can keep it in the refrigerator to create an infused drink. 
  • You can also add cucumber, watermelon, basil, mint or orange and blueberries in your drink.

Once you are aware of your health and what is good and what is bad for you, you need no medicines and vitamin capsules to rely on.
