AAS are a synthetic form of testosterone, and this is the primary male sex hormone that can affect different parts of a male body like liver, hair follicles, kidneys, nervous system, muscles, bones, and reproductive system.

The thing you need to understand that we human can naturally produce these hormones and the level of this hormone increases in men during their puberty time that further helps to develop male sex traits like a deep voice, increase height, body hair growth, muscle mass and sex drive.

Women also produce this hormone, but the level of this hormone is too small compared to men. This hormone promotes various types of functions in a female body like healthy libido and bone density in women’s.

If we talk about the normal level of testosterone in men that is 300-100 ng/dl and in women, it is 15-70 ng/dl. When you take steroids, the level of testosterone increases which leads to side-effects of steroids like strength and increased muscles mass.

Now, are there any benefits of steroids? There are a few, but these benefits come with side-effects of steroids that you should never forget. Steroids are not only used for body building, but other things as well.

Therefore, most of the sports federation has banned AAS drugs.

Steroids like anabolic are widely used in sports related to strength to gain power output and muscle mass like powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting and bodybuilding.

The reason steroids are used more in this type of sports because here people need more strength, power and muscle mass and size.

Many steroids user seems to use a different strategy called stacking. In this, these steroid users take multiple types of AAS, and even they use various synthetic hormones like insulin and growth hormones.

In some cases, AAS is used in people who are suffering from conditions like muscle loss due to cancer, AIDS, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and liver disease. This can be used to prevent muscle mass.

In the above conditions, the muscle loss is closely linked to mortality and using some preventive measures can increase the lifespan.

However, using AAS is not the only option to prevent muscle mass, this might benefit some people but one can not ignore the side-effects of it. Muscle mass can be prevented with other methods as well.
