Prevention Measures From Coronavirus

Coronaviruses are zoonotic, which means that they are transmitted between animals to humans. This virus first spread from China to other ten countries which also include the United Nation, South Korea, and Japan. 

According to few recent reports today, three suspected cases of the coronavirus were reported in Delhi.

As per news the infected patients had recently returned from China and now admitted to the Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi. She is facing respiratory symptoms similar to those of the deadly disease currently gripping the world. Therefore, health experts and authorities are prompted to offer advice on how to reduce the spread of coronavirus. 

Even after the health experts warnings about 100,000 people may already be infected – far more than the 2,700 cases reported by China’s National Health Commission in China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.

Before we jump to any kind of conclusion firstly you need to understand, what is a coronavirus. 

What Is Coronavirus?

It is known to be a large family of viruses that can cause illnesses, starting from the common cold to acute respiratory syndromes. But, according to the reports the virus which is the cause of death in China is not seen before. 

Here The Prevention Steps To Follow: 

Right now, there is no such vaccine, which can be used to prevent 2019-nCoV infection. Therefore the best way to prevent is to avoid being exposed to the coronavirus. Here are some CDC recommended preventive steps to follow:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Do not touch your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • No close contact with people who are sick.
  • If you are sick, you should stay at your home. .
  • Use a tissue (always) to cover your cough or sneeze, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces. 

What are the symptoms of Coronavirus infections?

Coronavirus symptoms depend on the type of coronavirus and how serious the infection is.

If you detect a mil to moderate upper-respiratory infection like the common cold, there are chances that this problem may further include:

  • Runny nose
  • Headache
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Fever
  • Not feeling well overall

Some of the Coronaviruses can lead to some severe symptoms and this infection may turn into bronchitis and pneumonia problem which may further lead to other symptoms like: 

  • Fever, which may be quite high if you have pneumonia
  • Cough with mucus
  • Shortness of breath
  • Chest pain or tightness when you breathe and cough
  • Severe infections are more common in people with heart or lung diseases, people with weakened immune systems, infants, and older adults.

Diagnosis: Follow these steps.

During the diagnosis process, the medical expert may order some laboratory tests on respiratory specimens and serum (part of your blood) to detect human Coronaviruses. 

Laboratory testing is more likely to be used if you have severe disease or are suspected of having MERS. 

One should tell your healthcare provider about any recent travel or contact with animals. Most MERS-CoV infections have been reported from countries in the Arabian Peninsula. Therefore reporting a travel history or contact with camels or camel products is very important when trying to diagnose MERS. 

How to protect yourself?

There are currently no vaccines available to protect you against human coronavirus infection. You may be able to reduce your risk of infection by doing the following

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick

Treatment

Till now, there are no specific treatments to prevent the illnesses caused by human Coronaviruses. 

Most people with common human Coronavirus illness will recover on their own. However, you can do some things to relieve your symptoms

  • Take pain and fever medications (Caution: do not give Aspirin to children)
  • Use a room humidifier or take a hot shower to help ease a sore throat and cough
  • If you are mildly sick, you should drink plenty of liquids, and at stay home and rest.
