6 Foods That Keep You Warm During Winters

Sometimes you do wear proper warm clothes, cover your ears at home and even if you go outside but still you get sick. If such things happen to you, this means your immunity is weak to protect you against winter sickness like flu, cold and fever. This also happens if the body temperature drops because of burning more calories to produce internal heat and therefore we need to include foods that are high in nutritional value and help to keep you warm as well. 

So, next time you are feeling excessive cold or want to recover fast from common winter problems like cold, flu or fever, try to include the lists of the following food on your diet. 

Foods to keep you warm in winters: 

1. Honey:

Honey is your health’s friend if you know how to take it. If you are consuming honey during winters, this will help to increase body temperature. As per the thermogenesis process, if you have foods that take more time to digest, it helps you to feel warm because this increases the body temperature. 2. Ginger:

Ginger is used as a healing herb for thousands of years. Even today ginger, you know, you add ginger while preparing decoction at home. During winter, sweet potatoes are one of the best foods to have in winters because sweet potatoes are powerhouse Vitamin C, beta-carotene, fiber, and vitamin along with other health benefits. Sweet potatoes are high in fiber and keep you warm during winters therefore you should definitely add sweet potatoes to your diet. It also helps to improve your immune system, develop resistance against infections, and is good for your eye health. If you went to a party had too much alcohol and partied a lot then having sweet potatoes is a good option for you.  

5. Dry fruits and seasonal fruits:

Starting your day with fruits on an empty stomach is a good start for the day because fruits help to give you that instant energy you need without putting excessive pressure on your digestive system. If you do not feel like having fruits on an empty (morning time on an empty stomach is the best time to have fruits) you can also have fruits in between meals like pineapple and papaya. 

5. Amla:

No doubt, amla is a great option in all seasons, however, the chance of developing cold, flu, cough or fever is high in certain seasons like winter and therefore having amla daily can be a really good way to improve your immunity. Amla is an excellent source of powerful antioxidants and vitamin C along with vitamins and other essential nutrients. It will improve your immunity, eye health, skin, hair and prevent you from various health problems. 

Also, you should include dry fruits like apricot, dates, figs, almonds, cashew nuts in your diet because dry fruits are rich in dietary fiber, good fats, vitamins and minerals to avoid any other nutrients.
