There are people who experience blockage and suffocation in the nose that make it difficult to breathe. What is Deviated Septum?

This condition does not make serious issues while breathing in general and there are few cases that show severe deviated symptoms. But, if you are facing deviated septum because of an injury or fracture, this can cause bleeding and crusting, etc.

People who suffer from deviated septum might find it difficult to breathe easily in the high altitudes because of the drying effect. Other issues that you may face is lining of the nose and inflammation and swelling of the nose.

Here are the Symptoms of Deviated Septum: 

1 Nose bleeding:

if the surface of the septum becomes rough or dry, this can cause nose bleeding. Nose bleeding is a common cause of deviated septum. However, a nose bleeding problem is not something that you should be worried about.

2. Breathing noise while sleeping:

A person who is suffering from a deviated septum might face the problem of noise while sleeping. When you have deviated septum, this can make one air passage thinner than the other passage that can cause noise while sleeping. This causes louder snores every night and becomes a sleepless night routine for others. So, high snoring sound can be a result of deviated septum problems.

3. Blockage of nostrils:

The blockage in the airflow can occur in both nostrils, but this depends on the severity of the deviated septum. If you are suffering from deviation in the centre of the nose, then there are chances to have swelling and allergies in the passage. The symptoms become more visible during flu and cold.

4. Facial pain:

If you are suffering from a deviated septum, this can cause pain in the nasal passage or pain in the face that makes it difficult to breathe. The person might also experience dizziness and headache as well. In most cases, people feel pain on either side of their face.

5. Nasal cycle:

In the deviated septum, there is an obstruction in the alternate sides of the nasal passage. This also happens because of the changes that occur in your nasal cycle. In most cases, people are not aware of the deviated septum and its symptoms and indications.

Here are the Causes of Deviated Septum:

  1. Since birth: most people who suffer from deviated septum are born with this condition from birth because the deviated septum does not occur over a period of time or after years. Neither this happen happens because of some diseases, this condition is affected in the womb itself. So, the first cause of the deviated septum is birth.
  2. Injury: Deviated septum is a condition that can occur because of some nasal fracture or injury that can cause deformation of the septum. Due to injury, the septum can move out of the actual place and cause more complications. People with nose injuries or fractures might face such problems. 

Complications related to Deviated Septum: 

  1. A dry nose can lead to a problem while breathing. 
  2. It becomes really irritating to do day-to-day chores because of the congestion and pressure in the nasal passage. 
  3. Disturbed sleep is also common in this condition due to loud snoring and problem while breathing. 
  4. Nose bleeding is another complication that can happen in the deviated septum. Excess nose bleeding can become severe if the other nerves are affected.
