Things That Can Make Your Sciatica Pain Worse!

Without any delay, one should always go for sciatica treatment first, instead of delaying their pain and symptoms. However, there are few things that people should be aware of to avoid the severity of sciatica nerve pain. 

However, in a few cases, people can get rid of the problem within a few days, but sometimes, the recovery can take weeks and months and years if not treated properly on time. Some of the common causes of sciatica nerve pain are a herniated disc, disc bulge, and spine injury.

Things that can make Your Sciatic Nerve Pain Worse:

1.      Wearing tight pants:

Yes, this may sound silly but this can increase your sciatica nerve pain. If your bottoms are really tight, this put excess pressure on your spine, thighs, legs, and hips that further put pressure on your sciatic nerve. This can lead to more pain and uneasiness, and therefore it is better for sciatica patient to wear loose bottoms. 

2.      In case you love wearing heel:

If you are someone who wears heels for long hours or usually wears every day. You need to understand that this can lead to excess pressure on your hamstring muscles. In case you do not know, the sciatic nerve is located near the hamstring muscles and this can lead to more pain and excess pressure on the sciatic nerve. Also wearing uncomfortable shoes also caused uneasiness and unnecessary pain in your feet, which is not good for you, anyway. Try to avoid such uncomfortable high heels and wear good quality flat footwear. 

3.      Sitting for long hours:

People who do jobs and required to sit for long hours need to make a few changes to prevent excess sciatica nerve pain. Sitting in one place for a long time can put excess pressure on your spine muscles. Many who do not take small breaks in between their working works and sit at one place non-stop in the wrong posture are more likely to develop sciatica, and if you have a sciatica problem, then this habit can increase your pain further. So, try to stretch and walk for 5 to 10 minutes every 2 hours so that you back get relief from the excess pressure and to improve the blood flow in those areas. 

4.      Excess weight:

This situation is not good for any problem, not exercising and carrying excess weight can lead to the sciatica pain problem. Also, if you have recovered from your sciatica pain, this problem can reoccur if you are overweight. If you are overweight, this will cause excess pressure the pelvis area and cause more pain in the back. 

5.      Not doing enough physical activity:

Make sure you follow a strict routine to practise various yoga asanas and any spine strengthening exercises after consulting your doctor and a physiotherapist. If you want to gain muscles strength and flexibility, then exercises and yoga asanas are great for this. People who do not exercise at all and live a sedentary lifestyle are more likely to develop sciatica nerve pain.

6.      Do not put items in your back pockets:

This is not proven yet, but putting most of the item in your back pocket can cause excess pressure on your sciatica nerve. Therefore, it is better to avoid putting things in your back pocket because this does not cause any harm to your spine is also not proven yet and precautions are always better than cure. So, avoid putting your cell phones, purses and money in your back pockets. When you sit this causes uneven weight on your piriformis muscle.
