The biggest mistake people make is that they try to lose weight quickly but what is more important is to lose weight sustainably. Sustainability means you can be in shape or maintain a healthy weight after you lose weight.

When a person loses weight quickly, the chances of gaining more weight after that is high. And, once this happens, it is even more difficult to lose weight.

Therefore, today we will discuss some of the effective ways to lose weight that are sustainable and you can maintain a healthy weight after reducing your weight.

Sustainable Ways to Lose Weight:

1.      Local Food:

Focus on eating fruits and vegetables that are locally available. Do not look for broccoli if it’s not available in your region. This will be pocket friendly and your mind stays stress-free from the drama of having certain popular vegetables. No doubt these popular vegetables are effective but having fresh vegetables and fruits that are easily available is better to sustain in the long term.

2.      Seasonal Fruits:

Whenever you go to a market, try to pick vegetables and fruits that are seasonal. This will help you have various types of nutrition and fresh fruits and vegetables always taste better. Do not buy fancy vegetables, especially if you want to lose weight in a sustainable way.

3.      Chew your food properly:

Yeah, sounds so redundant, but few people follow this. You have to chew every bite at least 24 times. This process eases the digestion process and your body would be able to absorb the nutrition in a much better way. Also, your mind needs at least 15 minutes to receive the signal that your stomach is full. So, eating slowly and chewing your food really helps.

4.      Climate:

Try to incorporate food that is complementary to your system based on the climate. Different states have different climates and based on the climate the food choices are different too. So, try to include foods that are good for your system and prevent you from the harsh effects of the climate. If it’s hot, you will avoid having excessively spicy meals.

5.      Be joyful:

Be thankful for the food that you have on your plate as nourishment to your system. Feel thankful for the food and then have your meal. Do not restrict yourself to carbs, fats and protein, food and nutrition are much more than just focusing on these things. For a person who eats his/her food joyfully the chances of eating that food for a longer period is high, which makes it more sustainable.

Remember that it takes years to gain those extra 5 kgs, 10kg or 20kgs and losing too much weight in a short duration is not good for you. So, take your time in a year and you need to lose 10% of the total body weight. This slow sustainable journey of weight loss is more beneficial and healthy than losing too much weight in a month.
