In one of her Instagram videos, she shared some interesting tips on how to improve your immunity naturally without any pills. She said, “Don’t fret and fume at a chemist shop to buy immunity-boosting supplements. Immunity is not a genie that comes out of the bottle, it’s a natural response of the human body. All it needs is a commonsensical approach to life and that cannot be bought, that must be earned with daily efforts, one day at a time.”

 In today’s time, where people are easily exposed to Coronavirus, developing better immunity is the biggest concern. Therefore, people are going for some bizarre supplements and pills without knowing the actual reason. 

Even if there are fewer cases, one needs to understand that a better immunity is good for your overall health and prevention from various health problems, not just coronavirus.

However, there are some ways that can be helpful to improve immunity and to reduce the risk of developing diseases or various types of infections.

1. Rely on seasonal, local and traditional food:

Having locally available foods and in for the season might contain more nutrition. Also, nowadays people are spending more time indoors and therefore it is beneficial to have seasonal and local foods.

2. Never skip your breakfast:

Breakfast is one of the most important meals because a healthy breakfast restores your glucose levels and also reduces your stress level. When you eat your breakfast every day, this also improves your metabolism level.

3. Avoid packaged food and have more home-cooked meals:

As per the Food Safety Authority of Ireland, there are no Corona cases that are linked to contamination of food. But still, if you want to develop a better immunity, then try to have more home-cooked meals instead of having packed foods with tons of preservatives.

4. Home set curd (dahi) & buttermilk:

Home set dahi is rich in minerals, probiotics, protein, calcium and vitamins. All these essential nutrients are extremely beneficial to strengthen your immunity. It is also good to have buttermilk after your meal because the lactic acid bacteria in the buttermilk helps to maintain a healthy balance between good and bad bacteria in your gut microbiome that further improves your immunity.

5. Have your dinner before 8 pm:

If you are having your dinner early, this will tremendously improve your immune system. Not only is it advisable to have dal, sabzi, roti and chawal in your dinner, but it is also a good meal to have at night. Having an early dinner is linked to cellular regeneration and repair.

6. Turmeric milk at night:

Sometimes it happens that after having your dinner early, you feel a little hungry before bedtime. So, for this, you can have turmeric milk at night before bedtime. However, if you are not feeling hungry, you can avoid it. Turmeric contains curcumin in it and therefore you get some of the powerful antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties that help improve your immune system.

7. Fresh and seasonal fruits daily:

Having seasonal fruit every day is a great idea to protect yourself from the common cold flu and other health issues. Having at least one fruit on an empty stomach in the morning is the best way to start your day. Fruits are great to improve your immunity.

8. Ghee is essential:

Ghee is an excellent source of healthy fats, it has antiviral agents and natural microbes that are great to improve immunity. Adding to all your meals is not only good for your digestion, but this also helps to strengthen bones, balance hormones, weight loss and heart health.

9. Having a handful of dry fruits:

You can have a handful of dates, walnuts, cashew, almonds to get essential minerals, vitamins and healthy fats. Nuts are rich in antioxidants that help to improve your immunity.

10. Exercise at least 30 to 60 minutes daily:

If you exercise regularly, this helps to boost your immunity, improve airways, strengthen lungs, flush toxins and reduce inflammation. 

11. Practice 5 Surya Namaskar daily:

Practicing Surya namaskar helps to loosen muscles and joints. These asanas are also helpful to improve immunity. 

12. Fix your bedtime:

As per NCI health, if you follow a fixed pattern for restful sleep, this will improve the functioning of your immune system. When you go through sleep deprivation, this can hurt your body’s first immune response and make it more vulnerable to foreign pathogens.

13. Limit gadget time:

If you are habitual of using your gadgets before bedtime, this can disrupt your body’s internal clock and rhythm that can harm your immunity. It is better to not use your cellphone at least 30 minutes before bedtime.

14. Spend time with your loved ones:

Spending more time with your loved ones can reduce your stress level. Therefore, it is better to stay connected to your loved ones instead of using your gadgets all the time.
